Templates and the graphic
Every post type has one or more graphic templates — drag-and-drop designs PostYard fills in with the post's headline, image and logo.

A template is a 1080×1080 design: a background, a headline box, an optional picture slot, a logo, and any extra text fields the post type has defined (a stat, a quote attribution, and so on). Drag boxes to position them; the same canvas preview is what renders the finished graphic, so what you see is what gets posted.
When a post type has more than one template, PostYard picks one at random for each new post, so several posts in a row don't all look identical. That pick isn't final: on the post's own page you can use Change template to swap it for another of this post type's templates, and rejecting a post with a note like "try a different design" makes PostYard do the same thing for you.
One post can be nudged without touching the template at all: open the post and use Edit graphic to retype the headline or drag its text/image/logo — that changes only that post, never the template every other post shares.
